How do the injections work?
They help your body to produce more insulin when needed. Insulin is a hormone made naturally in your body that helps to control glucose or sugar levels. They also reduce the amount of glucose, or sugar, produced by the liver, and slow down how quickly food is digested.
Am I eligible?
The weight loss injections are an option for weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults.
You need to have a Body Mass index of at least 30 or 27.5 for those from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean backgrounds.
Please note: You will only be given a prescription for this medication following an assessment by a 2Me Clinic doctor to make sure that you meet the criteria and that you’ll benefit from its use.
Are there side effects?
The common side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness. It’s important to speak to us about side effects that are bothersome or don’t seem to resolve.
How do I take it?
Injections are given ONCE weekly. At 2Me Clinic, we explain how to administer the injection. We also give you useful leaflets and videos to take away with you for reference.
How long can I use it for?
The duration will depend on your weight loss goals, side effects, and how well the treatment is working for you. The medication may need to be continued at a low dose to maintain weight loss but should be gradually discontinued if lifestyle changes alone are sufficient to sustain weight loss.
Are there fake weight loss injections out there?
Unfortunately, falsified preparations, have been found in the UK. At 2Me Clinic, we consider your safety to be paramount. We strongly advise obtaining prescription medicines from qualified healthcare providers, and not to use preparations that you suspect are falsified, as these may be ineffective or lead to serious harm. Here are some useful tips to verify the authenticity of medication:
- Authenticity seals: Ensure that seals are intact
- Quality of packaging: High-quality, with clear text and no smudges or printing errors
- Lot number and expiry date: The LOT number and Expiry date on the pen should match those on the outer box
- Manufacturer details: Ensure the packaging includes Novo Nordisk, or Eli Lilly, who are the official manufacturers of Ozempic/Wegovy and Monjauro respectively
Can I get the injection without seeing a health professional?
There are currently no robust controls on who can gain access to treatment. At 2Me Clinic we ensure that we prescribe safely.
